The Silencing

A heart-stopping new crime thriller series by the internationally bestselling author of the DCI Jack Hawksworth books. It's easy to keep quiet if you're dead. Meet Nina Crow, once a rising star of the Australian Federal Police, now recovering from a spiral into darkness after an undercover operation went horrifyingly wrong, shattering her life and her career. Finally clean after eighteen months of being lost to the bottle, Nina has reinvented herself as a private investigator, taking on monotonous, low-end investigative tasks. To drown out the noise of potential relapse and her own dark thoughts, she has also taken up the ancient art of bell ringing. When Nina receives a call from a distressed man about his sister's mysterious death in Fiji, she is reluctantly drawn into the case. Why would a successful woman in the prime of her life celebrating with friends want to end her life? Did the victim really have a death wish, or have the authorities got it wrong? Nina will need to silence her own fears in a quest for justice. Will she pay the ultimate price for speaking up - or are some secrets worth taking to the grave?
